De Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.2 893 Squadron flies over HMS Hermes in the Straits of Malacca.
This particular aircraft, XJ571, is now preserved at the Solent Sky Museum in Southampton, Hampshire and was originally built as an FAW.1 in 1960. Converted to an FAW.2 in 1964, the aircraft would serve with numerous squadrons and carriers. I have depicted the last markings this aircraft carried operationally - the scheme she has been restored to. Oil on canvas.
