IRIS II at Gan
Handley Page Hastings TG560 of the RAF's Inspectorate of Radio Installation Services (IRIS) on the pan at RAF Gan in the late 1950s. Only 40 miles from the equator, Gan is a very small, remote island in the Indian Ocean and the RAF base there was used primarily as a staging post and refuelling stop between the Middle East and the Far east. Oil on canvas.
