Agustawestland Wildcat, Army Air Corps

The Wildcat Mk1 helicopter performs a range of tasks on the battlefield including reconnaissance, command and control, transportation of troops and materiel, as well as the provision of force protection.

Operated by 1 Regiment, AAC, the Wildcat is fitted with a nose mounted MX-15 Wescam Electro Optical Device enabling it to detect targets by day and night at significant range. The painting was commissioned by the Army Air Corps. Oil on canvas.

Wildcat painting handover

The painting was handed over at an Officers' dinner on 28th February 2019 at Middle Wallop Officers' Mess. Lieutenant General Sir Gary Coward KBE CB, Deputy Colonel Commandant Army Air Corps receives the painting from Chris.
